As more people learn about the capabilities (both inside and outside the substation fence) of the SMART suit of applications and its affordable pricing, they are stepping up to SMARTest for their distribution operations. After seeing the demo and reading about SMART in the March 2014 edition of T&D World magazine, a small utility from North Carolina became the first one to use SMART 5.x to maintain its ten substations as well as their transmission poles. In conjunction with their regular inspection, they plan to use the GIS feature of SMART to inspect their transmission poles.
